Yikes

The school year is almost over. What the heck? When did this happen? I am pretty sure I just said we have 2 months left.
The littlest goes to school next Tuesday and then he is done, til next year. He will be in VPK* then. The other 2 boys have 12 days left. That is all!
One on hand I am looking forward to not having to get up and run out the door every morning. On the other...Um what the heck am I going to do with them? My plans of lots of beach visits have been blown to bits by my knee injury. I am debating vacation bible school, but that is only one week.
We will do the usual; back yard pool/slip and slide, arts and crafts, baking, and movies (gotta love netflixs).
But all those activities will take up, oh about one week.
I need help from people far more creative than I am, please give me some ideas for summer fun!
* VPK is voluntary preschool, which is free in Fla. Since it is free and you get to pick your own school, pretty much everyone uses it.

I am a huge fan of the library. It is free, they have story time and stuff.
Also sometimes Lowes and or Home Depot have building classes for the little ones, those are usually on Saturdays.

Sadly Seminole County libraries have cut hours and story times. And we cant check out books... lets just say autistic kid, marker, and owing the library $100.

Not to sure about any other summer plans other than the ones you listed....we use to be summer buddies but now with the distance and all I guess it won't happen this summer. BUT I wanted to say I love the new pic up and the new blog layout...very cute

Very sad you wont be here this summer...

I owe the library $85 for the same exact reasons. What is it with autistic kids and markers? (or scissors...my poor curtains.)
I say lots of Benadryl and Jack Daniels at this point. Have a fun summer.

As for the library--get a card in Neil's name (or anyone else who doesn't have one), and go get some books!

Do multiple VBS's. One week at this church, one week at that one... There is nothing wrong w/that, and it's a wonderful experience for kids, and is great when money is tight (just don't go to the ones that cost like $30 per kid, and yes there is one near you that is that much! *eyeroll*)

Definitely backyard fun- make a goal to have them outside for 4+ hrs/day!

Do some summery/beachy-themed homeschooling for the summer. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate or over-structured at all. Just something that takes up maybe an hour (if that) a day. Call it 'learning time', and have some fun activities planned for that block of time!
